Living with an American family is a wonderful way to increase your English language skills and learn about life in the United States!

GLI students live with carefully selected homestay families from the area. One feature of GLI's homestay program is that GLI does not contract with a third party homestay placement company. Rather, students are placed with families who we know personally and whose homes we have visited.

All meals are included except weekday lunches. For Youth Program in Minnesota, weekday lunches are included. Students may bring a lunch from their homestay; however, students may also choose to purchase lunch with their own pocket money at the numerous convenient and inexpensive options for eating near our campus.

If you want to live with an American family and share your culture with them, please complete the Student Homestay Family Form and return it to GLI at the time of application or as soon as possible. Information about your family will be provided to you before you arrive in the US.

Students participating in GLI's Youth Program in Florida or Special Youth Programs held at GLI's Florida campus live on campus in attractive, apartment-style dormitory accommodations. Each "apartment" includes two large bedrooms (2-4 children each), two bathrooms with showers, two study rooms, and a large central living room. The programs include a full meal plan in the campus cafeteria. The only exception is during full-day excursions when students are responsible for purchasing their own meals.

This option is for participants in GLI's Professional Training Programs (Executive English Program, Combined Intensive Program for Professionals, and Scholarly English Program). Students applying to GLI's Intensive English Program may also request hotel accommodations. Please contact us at info@gli.edu for current information and availability.

Intensive English Program applicants who would like to live in an apartment should plan to stay with a GLI homestay family for at least one session. We will be happy to help you to make arrangements during this time. Please note that, although we will help you to find an apartment, GLI does not guarantee availability and is not responsible for arrangements made by students.
